Anything that takes outlet voltage and reduces it should be considered possibly dangerous unless it comes from a known millions of $$$ manufacturer. At least a USB cable can only fry your expensive gear, and not start fires etc.
At least it melted and stopped, some of these bad designs short circuit and let you taste some line voltage.
There’s always a difference between fraudulently labeled bad USB outlets and defective equipment. The Aukey has real UL certifications, AFAIK. Blitzwolf is good, iLuv is crap, it’s pretty hard to actually keep track.
